When your child is sick or you’re feeling under the weather, figuring out your next step can feel stressful. At LCMC Health Urgent Care, we want you to feel supported, cared for, and confident about your choices. We’re answering common questions below to help you stay informed and focused on getting everyone back to feeling their best.

Our services and capabilities

Our clinics care for a wide range of non-life-threatening medical needs. Let’s walk through what we can (and sometimes can’t) do, so you know exactly what to expect when you arrive.

Does your urgent care do X-rays?

Yes, every LCMC Health Urgent Care location has the capability of digital X-ray services right here on site. This lets our team quickly check for broken bones, sprains, or even pneumonia, so you don’t have to make another stop somewhere else. We can share results and create a treatment plan with you before you leave.

To help make your visit as smooth as possible, we recommend calling your preferred clinic before your visit to confirm X-ray availability or to find the nearest LCMC Health Urgent Care location offering X-rays that day.

Does your urgent care do stitches?

Absolutely. If you, your little one, or even a co-worker gets a cut that might need stitches, come see us. Our compassionate providers clean, check, and repair minor wounds with stitches, staples, or dermal glue. We’ll help make sure things heal safely and comfortably, so you worry less about infection or scarring.

However, if a cut is very deep, won’t stop bleeding, or if you suspect a tendon, muscle, or nerve has been cut, please go to an emergency room for immediate care.

Does your urgent care do STD testing?

Yes, we provide confidential STD testing in a private, respectful environment. Your health, comfort, and privacy mean everything to us. If you have questions, just ask. We’re here for honest conversations and answers.

Does your urgent care do blood work?

We can! Many tests, including blood draws, are available directly in our clinics. We’ll use lab work to quickly spot infections like flu, COVID, strep, mono, UTI, and other common conditions. Our on-site labs mean you get the answers and treatment you deserve without a long wait. Sometimes, for certain complex tests, we may send your specimen to a partner lab for more in-depth testing.

Does your urgent care do ultrasounds?

Ultrasounds are highly specialized, so we don’t usually have this equipment in our clinics. If you need an ultrasound, we can connect you with a hospital or imaging center where you can get the right care. We’ll guide you step by step, so you always know where to go and what to expect.

Can your urgent care give IV fluids?

Yes, we can provide IV fluids for moderate or severe dehydration. If you’re dealing with vomiting, diarrhea, heat exhaustion, or another illness that makes it hard to drink enough, our team can help you rehydrate quickly so you feel better faster.

Can your urgent care prescribe antibiotics?

We do prescribe antibiotics if you need them for a bacterial infection. You’ll get clear instructions about your medicine and when to take it. We’re also careful not to prescribe antibiotics for viral illnesses like colds or the flu, because we want every treatment to be safe and necessary.

Can I go to your urgent care for a UTI?

Yes, you can. Urinary tract infections are something we commonly treat in our care centers, so you’re in good hands. If you’re feeling burning or the constant need to go, don’t wait. Come in for a simple urinalysis and, if needed, we’ll start you on antibiotics right away.

Understanding your visit and costs

We know healthcare bills can be a big concern. That’s why we work hard to keep things clear and simple, no matter how you plan to pay.

Can you go to LCMC Health Urgent Care without insurance?

Of course! If you don’t have insurance, you can still get care at our clinics. We offer self-pay options, so you won’t ever be turned away. Just ask our friendly front desk team. They’ll explain your options and make sure you understand what to expect before any care begins.

How much does it cost to go to urgent care?

Costs vary based on your insurance plan, your deductible, and the services you need, but we always aim for transparency. People with insurance usually pay a co-pay similar to a visit with a specialist. If you’re paying out of pocket, we’ll lay out prices clearly, so there are no surprises. A quick call to your insurance company can help you find out your coverage before you even walk through our door.

Urgent care vs. emergency room

Knowing when to choose urgent care or an emergency room is important. We want to help you land in the right place at the right time, so you get the best possible care.

Urgent care

Visit us for non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries that can’t wait for your regular doctor but don’t need the ER. Here’s when you should head our way:

  • Colds, flu and fever
  • Sore throat or sinus infection
  • Minor cuts needing stitches
  • Sprains, strains and simple fractures
  • Upset stomach, vomiting or diarrhea
  • Mild rashes or allergic reactions
  • UTIs and other minor infections
Emergency services

If you or someone you love is facing a true emergency, don’t wait. The ER is designed to treat critical, life-threatening, or limb-threatening issues. When in doubt, call 911 or go to the hospital right away.

Call 9-1-1 or go to the ER for:

  • Chest pain or signs of a heart attack
  • Signs of a stroke (sudden weakness, facial droop, slurred speech)
  • Severe trouble breathing
  • Uncontrolled bleeding
  • Major broken bones or serious head injuries
  • Loss of consciousness

We want you to get the right care as quickly as possible and help ER teams focus on emergencies.
